Hi all, i want to know how much CPU utilisation is ok.

i thought its fine untill 60%, but my system becomes very slow if the CPU utilisation is 30%, we got 8 CPU and 8GB memory and the users are complaining its very slow. We are running Apps 11.0.3.

Any suggestions?

Thanx in advance.

CPU utilization is low (30%) doesn't mean that the application is running faster than it is when CPU is 60%. It is a good idea to have a DBA look at the server for a poorly executing query when the CPU usage is 30% and tune it.

CPU is a non bankable resource, which means you use it or you lose it. You should not be too concerned even if the CPU's are pegged at 90% but the system is running smoothly.

Focus on wait events in the database using statspack and find out what the system is waiting on when it is slow, you may be pleasantly surprised to find out it may very well not be cpu but something else.
