hi all
when i am installing personal oracle 8 or 8i on windows 98 machine, it loads successfully.
but when i configure sql net easy config, its giving error as java runtime error .
even i tried manually changing tnsnames.ora file
also but when iam connecting as system/manager@prod
its giving error for tnsnames.ora
if i connect as system/manager without service name it works fine.
plz let me know the solution for this.

did you configure the listener?
sqlplus user/password@tnsconnecstring will use a listener.
sqlplus user/password will NOT use a listener.
Please look here for instructions(ignore the sqlnet.ora settings. just comment them off) or google yourself
try it.
and Please post the complete error message!.
