Hi,

I runned a report via Discoverer, and it seems that even when the report is finished (DML were executed and finished, no physical reads and consistent gets), there is still an inactive discoverer process (on the database side) that is using huge amount of CPU?! Anyone had similar problems? Could someone explain me why or what can be at the origin of this problem?

I had to kill the process and then everything (CPU use) went back to normal again.

Many thanks!

Best regards,

Patrick.

Run a trace on the session to see what you can determine about the originating call.

Run tkprof against the .trc using "record=disco_call.sql"

In OEM you should be able to see the current SQL of the session.
If this sql takes a loooong time, no point in creating a trace, it will only be in the trace once the statement comes to an end.
btw, this is where StatsPack comes in very handy !
