Hi, Am new in DBA i found in my Oracle 9i database that

SGA_MAX_SIZE=1330MB

DB_CACHE_SIZE=960MB

LOG_BUFFER=0.77MB

I hav a strong feeling that size of the log_buffer should be increased. My database is meant for OLTP

Plez revert with suggestions thanks in anticipation

Vivek

Hi,

Let me tell u that the default value of log_buffer is 512 K or 128 * no. of CPUs whichever is greater. So u r having the log buffer of 700 k which seems ok, bcz having more than 1m of log buffer would be useless bcz oracle flush log buffer to disk whenever it contains 1m of redo.It is one of the scenario when log writer flush log buffer to disk. For more info refer oracle doc.
