Hi Gurus,

Can anyone tell me what exactly is ORACLE SERVICE, whats its purpose and how is it related to Server processes and other backgound processes.

On windows platforms, oracle service is the system process that represents the ORACLE INSTACE.
The operating system process will have the name ORACLE.EXE.
That process will group all the background processes, instead of several processes like it is on unix systems.
