�Can anyone give me a step by step process regardding how to migrate from Oracle 8i to Oracle 9i.

Hi

there are 2 methods to do this... but i always use following method

1)first take export of all the users from your current database.

2)check out the database block size and character set of the existing database(if you want you can also spool out your database structure i.e tablespace name,datafiles, this is b.cos if you want same tablespace name and datafiles should exist in new database)

3)Now create a new database(9i) with same block size and character set of your previous database and also see that new database can have same tablespace names and user accounts)

4)after creating database log on to new database as sysdba.
5)then import the files into your new database which u have exported.

this will work

Oracle 9i (9.x.x.x) any version has the capability to upgrade 8i without manual exporting and importing?
At present I am using Oracle8i Release 8.1.6.0.0
and I would like to migrate to Oracle 9i 9.0.1

i have problem in migrating from 8i to 9i
my problem is relational constraint
how can i sovle this problem
