Even if you have configured your server for shared server connections, users can also request dedicated server connections.

On unix machines you can ps -ef&#124more
an you can see additional unix process like
*S000*
*S001*
*S002*

asteriks means i dont remember the exact name
'S' stands for SHARED.

I also think you can query dicctionary views like
V$SHARED_SERVER

Best luck.

Dear Bhavin,

when you configure TNSNAMES.ORA(Local Naming) at the client side specify two Net Service Name and specify (SERVER=SHARED) for Shared Server Connection and (SERVER=DEDICATED) for Dedicated Connection.

when you choose to connect to Database with the Net Service name for shared Serevr, you are connected to shared server mode and the other will be connected as Dedicated Server Mode.

Also Note that all the Database Administration jobs can't be performed when you are connected in shared server mode for that your connection type must be Dedicated.

Dear Bhavin,

set (server=dedicated) in your tnsnames.ora.

And it will get the user a dedicated server connection.

Dear Sujit,

Is it really I can't do My administration work when the server is in shared Mode ? What is a reason behind this.
