I've created a new instance of Oracle. I want to copy the database in the old instance to the new instance. How best to do this ? (Linux Server, Oracle 10g)

Assuming you older database is 9i
If the old database is small size... export from it and import into new which should work fine. For larger DBs in 10g, use Transportable tablespaces to bring the complete data TS.

The question is unclear....
