Hi,
I need to clear out few basic questions
a) What is difference b/w SYS and SYSTEM USER
b) What is SP<<SID>>.ORA FILE and what difference does it make if I have only SP<<SID>>.ORA FILE or Pfile init<<SID>>.ORA FILE
IF Oracle read this PFILE insead of SPFILE, Is there is any difference in the performance.
Regards

Hi,
Question a: See section "Database Administrator Usernames" in chapter 1 of the "Database Administrator's Guide".
Question b: see section "Initialization Parameters and Database Creation" in chapter 2 of the "Database Administrator's Guide".
Question c: No, if will make absolutely no difference in performance either way!
Best regards.
Frank

Thanks Frank,
But Y Oracle has created the function of SP<<SID>>.ORA File. If there is no difference in performance why in 9i they have chnage it.

I believe SYS is intended for maintenance operation, such as startup/shutdown, recover. and is also the owner of the data dictionary and dynamic views.
SYSTEM user is a simple dba user.
You can create your customized DBA user, or SYSDBA user, also SYSOPER user for startup/shutdown purpose and no need to user sys and system anymore.
Of course, all this is better explained in documentation.
I also believe tha SP file is intended for security reason, i mean, you can edit that file as easy as init.ora file. But nothing to do with performance.
Best regards.
