What is the formula for determing the most appropriate size of the redo log file size for a database?

It depends on ur database configuration.
Following situations mite ifluence the configuration of the Online redo log files:
1) No of log switches and checkpoints
2) Amount of redo entries
3) Space availability on the storage medium, eg on a tape if archiving is enabled.
