I can't shut down my db ? [message #62359]

I am running an Oracle 9i on my windows2000. I am sure that I just connect to the database with one user(sys with sysdba role). When I began to shutdown the db, it was hung there. Can somebody help me out? thanks in advance

Check ur alert log file
Some message would have been published there and solve the problem accordingly.
