Hi all,

I am beginner with Oracle, i have some problems when i try to dop online redo log file member.

I Made database with 4 log group, then i drop log member of group 1 (group 1 have 2 members and INACTIVE. Database NOARCHIVE mode. but this log member have STALE status. Why it have status? and how can i change the status ?)
with command
 Alter database drop logfile member
 'd:oracleoradatadb1redo01b.log';
I received some Error
 ERROR at line 1:
 ORA-00362: member is required to form a valid logfile in group 1
 ORA-01517: log member: 'd:oracleoradatadb1redo01b.log'
In document explane :
 00362, 00000, "member is required to form a valid logfile in group %s"
 // *Cause: A request to drop a logfile member was denied because it would
 // remove data required to form a complete logfile.
 // *Action: If desired, delete the entire log (after archiving if required),
 by using DROP LOGFILE

I checked some restrictions when drop log members in document but i can't find way to solve the prolem.
Please help me.
Best Regards

You can "ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE" to switch to a fresh group. And then try dropping it
