Dear all,

I'm using Oracle 8.1.7, everything was fine till I implemented integrated security.

Oracle would not start automaticaly, I've to do it manually everytime I reboot through SVRMGRL (using the internal account).

I could imagine that Oracle would start with the logged on user and this user should get special privileges. I guess that this user should have SYSDBA rights and may be more, I don't know.

Anyway, I've put this user in the ORA_DBA windows group but still when I check for granted permissions using Select * from V$PWFILE_USERS; only SYS and SYSTEM have SYSDBA rights.

And of course, Grant SYSDBA to User will not work sinse I'm using INTS.

Delete the instance and Add it again through ORADIM didn't help which is normal.

I'm missing something ?

Any help will be appreciated.

By "integrated security" are u meaning sqlnet encryption using ASO (Advanced security options) ?
then it is a known restriction even with 9i.
oracle automatic restarts or shutdown / startup (Both in windows and unix) needs the super user (SYS ) to connect without any password.
But YOur Sqlnet encryption prevents it.
try this.
rename the sqlnet.ora ( that has new entries) to something.
try startup / shudown / autostart.
It will work.

so the only workaround is to write a simple script that
will rename the sqlnet.ora to a sqlnet.ora.moved before startup / shutdown
and after startup/shutdown rename sqlnet.ora.moved to sqlnet.ora

Hello,

In fact, by Integrated security, I meant remote authentication. I've tried to reproduce the same problem on another system but without success, I got different results.

On the first system, Oracle would not autostart, I had to start the instance manually through SVRMGRL.
On the second one, Oracle autostarts when logged on with a user having connect rights.

I don't undestand, I was to beleive that starting the instance requires special privileges...

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
