Hi,

We use locally managed temporary tablespaces using tempfile option. The temporary tablespace grows considerable for user sort requests. We know that temp extents created in such tempfiles are reused and not deallocated by SMON during normal database operations.

But are such temp extents deallocated at time of shutdown or not? Please advise.

Thanks and Regards,

Shyam

Hi,

At the time of clean shutdown oracle deallocate the temp segment in temporary tablespace.
