Can we create the data files on a remote computer. If yes what is the procedure. What are all the permissions that Oracle requires to create the file on the remote computer.

As far as I know it's just a really bad idea as the database generally needs 100% availablity to these files at all times.

Just map that drive on your system, and use that drive letter while mentioning the data file creation path.

Yes, you can create them.

If that's *NIX system, then you need +wx to the filesystem. If that's Winddows, then you should be able to map the remote filesystem to your local machine.
