Hello,

I am using Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0). First of all can anyone explain what each figure separated by periods (.) denote ??

Is it possible to upgrade to a new release (say 9.2.0.4) if the base version is a different one (say 9.2.0.1.0) ?? How ?? Or do I need to have a new installation in place ??

Thirdly what exactly does a patch mean ?? Is it a completely new installation ??
