I have installed oracle 9i on my desktop and im trying to connect to the oracle server using sql....the server im connecting to is oracle 7..., thru my enterprise console im able to add the remote server in my database tree and connect to too, i observed when i added the remote DB to my local tree the corresponding entries were automatically made in the tnsnames.ora. But from sql prompt when i try to connect with the correct user name password i get the error " tns service adapter err".. so i created a listener and associated the listener to the database thru netmanager...but i noticed tht the entry for which the listener was created was not were not reflected in the tnsnames.ora.

How o u suggest can i access the remote db server using 9i from SQL.
