If I can choose between HP-UX, Tru64, AIX, and Solaris, what is the best OS platform for 9i, and why?
Thanks,

Wow! such a tough & generic question. I am not sure if there ONE BEST platform that suits every requirements.
It depends on a lot of factors such as
Budget,
your database needs (eg RAC etc)
System Admins (Yes, very important. Their skillset, experience is vital)
H/W tech support
H/W vendor integration with Oracle
etc etc.
Compaq Tru64 was a pioneer in developing Cluster filesystems (infact their developers were instrumental in some part of RAC).
Solaris is very stable and scalable and so is HP-UX. I dont know about AIX.
Oracle has got very close ties with both SUN and HP(includes Compaq line).

AIX is also good. We have the SP nodes (hw is already old) and we are getting some new P series hw.
AIX 4.3.3 is what we have and I am using the 64-bit version (for Oracle 9.2 there is ONLY 64 bit version).
We are planning to go to 5L and there also only 64-bit version available.
