Hi
I am using an Oracle 9i Database.The undo management is set to Manual i.e. explicit undo management using Roll back segments.
When i restart the database , all the rollback segments which i have created become offline.These have to be made online manually so that any DMLs can be done.
I want to know why the Rollback Segs become offline when database is restarted ?
What can i do prevent this from happening ?
Thanks
Devashish

thats becos you have created private rollback segments and not PUBLIC. For private rollback segments,you will need to explicitly specify them in your init.ora(or spfile.ora) as
rollback_Segments=(rb1,rb2...)
If you dont want to do that,just drop your private rollback segments and recreate them as public rollback segments as
create public rollback segment rb1 tablespace ...;
Note: You can also specify unused public segments in init.ora,but not necessary.
