I START MY DATABASE WRITING STARTUP.BUT FOR SOME REASON I CHANGE MY PFILE AND STARTED IT WRITING STARTUP PFILE='FULL PATH OF PFILE'BUT LATER IF I WANT TO START MY DATABASE, AGAIN I NEED TO WRITE THE SAME BUT I WANT TO WRITE ONLY STARTUP.ONCE I SOLVED THIS PROBLEM ONLY WRITING ONCE STARTUP PFILE='FULL PATH' BUT THIS TIME I COULDNOT. PLEASE HELP
HOW COULD I SHUTDOWN MY DATABASE FASTER.WHILE SHUTTING DOWN IN PROGRESS,CAN I CHECK ANYBODY IS CONNECTED OR NOT FROM MY SERVER. PLEASE HELP

1.
copy the pfile to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs AND link it to (or just copy it for OFA) $ORACLE_BASE/admin/<sid>/pfile.
now you can start the database using startup.
2.
shutdown abort -- is the fastest and most crudest.
-- DONT DO THAT. u will loose all transatons
shutdown immediate -- is safe
3. to check the connected users
query v$session
