well my question is the following, i took sql in college and i would like to practice it from my computer i would like to know what software i need to download to run oracle, i have windows 98, can someone tell me the steps i need to make. i would like to be able to create my own databases, run sqls and so on, as you can see i'm a beginner. can someone please help?

You can load DB on Windows 98 if you have an older version of the software, probably early version of oracle 8. Atleast the trial version of the s/w.
The newer version of Oracle requires NT/2000/XP, as sugested by Mark.

on windows 98 u can have only personal oracle installed ...like oracle8i lite / oracle 9i lite which may be available for download from otn.oracle.com. get it downloaded and install it in u r pc...so that u can do the things u looking at ...
