7.3.4 to 9i Upgrade steps [message #58233]

Hi,

I have a server runing Oracle 7.3.4, which I need to upgrade to 9i.

I've tried installing 9i, then running the Database Upgrade app, and also tried running MIG from the command line, but the upgrade keeps failing.

The latest error was DIM-00019, which is a problem installing the service (due to the 7.3.4 service being there ??)

I think the problems are linked to the Oracle Homes, and the 7.3.4 and 9i homes clashing (7.3.4 = c:orant, 9i = c:oracle)

So ....... has anyone out there performed an 7.3.4 -> 9i upgrade on an /intel Platform.
If so, does anyone have a list of the actions that need to be performed, and the order they need performing in ??

My sanity wouldbe very grateful !!!!

you cannot directly upgrade 734 to 920.
first upgrade to 8i and then to 9i.

All the documentation says you can go from 7.3.4 to 9i.

You can't go from 7.3.3 to 9i (you need to goto 7.3.4 first)

So, is the documentation wrong ?????

you are right
and
I was wrong.
you can do a direct upgrade.

DLM errors mostly relate to PRIVS.
are u logged in as administrator?
check the group rights also.
