I haven't posted here in about a year and a half. Had a job that required too much of my time to be able to come here and schmooze. I got a new job, so we will see how it takes up my time. Chances are I will still not have time to ask and answer, but I will try. Thanks for not booting me out.

When someone disappears nowadays, one always fears that they have succumbed to the Virus. A few people have dropped off the forum in the last year or two. I thought you might be one! The forum has quietened down a lot, which is real shame. When I joined (about ten years ago. **** me, that's a long time) it was much busier and I learnt a huge amount from other members and also from trying to suss out answers to questions. Perhaps forums are just too twentieth century for modern youth.

I personally love forums. I use it here and other things I am interested in. I do not participate in Facebook discussions, but I do have an account under a false name to keep up on the bands I like.
However, I am not part of the modern youth category, so maybe that is why.

Bands, eh? Now you're talking. I'm a prog person. There is an internet radio station, progzilla.com, that I usually have burbling away in the background. I wish I could play prog, but it is far beyond my abilities. Right now, I'm trying to suss out the Hendrix Chord, E7#9, it's even worse than sus chords.
As an aside, my guitar teacher was playing at the Isle Of Wight festival last weekend (I live on the Island). He has landed a job playing guitar for a Meatloaf tribute band. Would you have thought that such things even existed?
Well, it is gin-and-tonic time here. Switching off.

Yeah, prog rock is not my thing. Jangly guitar power pop is what I am into, along with melodic punk, which may be considered the former too.
Here in the States, I am almost sure I have seen Meatloaf cover bands advertised in local papers, at least in New York.

I just listened on Spotify to 5 of their songs. Sorry to inform you, but that is not my ideas of punk. I am looking for Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Damned, Saints, Offspring, Green Day, Dead Kennedy's.

I felt that punk had to be live. Of the bands you mention, the only one I've seen is The Damned, at some big rally in I think 1981. It was Rock Against Racism, or CND - something like that. Captain Sensible is actually an accomplished musician! The punk band I'ld like to have seen (if they count as punks) is Nirvana. But at home, well, it will always be prog for me.
I'm fiddling around with the Phrygian scale now. Very cool. It's the basis for Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun. I think.
