ora-12638: credentials retrieval failed [message #57744]

Hi:

I had encountered the error mesage "ora-12638: credentials retrieval failed" while creating the database from Database Configuration Assistant as well as manually also. The Software ( Oracle 8i version 8.1.6 Enterpraise Edition ) has been loaded successfully on Windows 2000 Adv Server ( with SP4 ) and as well as Windows 2000 professional ( with SP4 ).
But, while creating the database....I encountered the above problem. Both two systems were brand new systems.

Can you please help me to sort out this problem. We need to up the systems very urgent.

Hi
Could you check the contents of your sqlnet.ora file? is the same as like this

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, ONAMES, HOSTNAME)

as Kittu said, please checkt the contents of sqlnet.ora and comment of all the entries
