Hi,

i am upgrading my oracle 8.1.7.0 db to 8.1.7.4 via patchset 2376472. During the installation I encountered an error "Could not invoke $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk" and "Could not invoke $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/ins_net_server.mk". I choose to ignore these errors and continue the installation.
But after the installation when I try going into the svrmgrl I get the following msg /usr/lib/pa20_64/dld.sl:Unable to find library 'libjox8.sl' ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact

Can somebody pls help me identify what the problem is? Is it something to do with the error I got during installation? how can i set this right?

Thanks and Rdgs

1. Make sure you have obtained the correct version of the patch (especially the 32/64 bit should be correct). Since I don't know the OS you're on, I can't give you any more info. I assume it's a Unix brand?
2. I read somewhere that you have to verify the LD_LIBRARY_PATH (?).

Hi Maheer,

Yeah i am using a 64 bit Unix server.
Actually i downloaded the readme alongwith the patch and it did not mention about any library file to be checked(or did i miss it out????) no but now i have re read the document and there is no mention of the library path anywhere. Now that i have installed the patch and it cant seem to work, can you suggest how i can move ahead with this....is there anything that i can set right with the library path now or do something???

Rdgs

1. Ok, make sure it's the 64bit patch you've applied.
2. When you search Metalink (metalink.oracle.com) you'll find a lot more info concerning problems with patches.

Sorry, but I can't give you any direct answer myself.

Good luck!
