I am going to change my Database from Small Server to Big Server and
changing the Version from Oracle 8 to 8i.

I am planning to take hot backup by export full and import in new

Please give me suggession and advise me what sort or precausions to
be taken to do this, since I don'nt have any strong DBA knowledge I
am really in a need of help.

Thanks you,

Hi Syed,

What I know that u can use ODMA(Oracle Data Migration Assistant) to migrate ur database or upgrade your Oracle version from Oracle 8 to Oracle 8i.

ODMA is available in Oracle8i, but not in Oracle 8, so I think while installing u can upgrade ur Oracle version.
Or
U can take physical backup of ur database to avoid risk & then may migrate ur database when Oracle 8i is installed newly(not upgraded).

This is just what I know theoritically, I am not 100% sure what I say is the best way.Hope this helps u.

Also kindly if ur job is done, plzz. intimate me the procedure u adopted.

Regards,
Sachin
