Dear All,
I have ORACLE DATABASE version 8.1.6. I am not able to startup Database from the SQL Prompt. When I am going to connect with the System/manager@servicename as sysdba its gives an error TNS names could not resolve service name BUT this service name is right. and I am start it with control panel>admin tool> services I starts then Pl. tell me where is the Problem??and give me a solution as soon as possible . Database running on Windows 2000 Professional

Hi,

If u are connecting as @servicename in sqlprompt in the server,
U should have an entry in the TNSnames.ora file, even if it is the server.
