I see.
Well, barcodes I used had to be enclosed into asterisk signs. For example, if barcode value you wanted to display was 01234567, then I had to select '*' || '01234567' || '*' my_barcode from dual
Visually, there was (almost?) no difference, but barcode reader wouldn't scan barcode without asterisks.
So, try it; it is easy to implement, and you'll see whether it works right away. If it does not, I'm afraid I can't assist any further.
