Hi,
After upgrading oracle 9i releaseI to II, i tested that my schema is upgraded to 9.2 release but both the s/w (9i Rel I & Rel II) are existing on different oracle homes. So i uninstall the 9i Release I and copy the tnsnames to the Rel II, and tested enery thing works fine, when i re-booted my machine and try to connect to upgraed schema in 9i Release II, it comes out with TNS PROTOCOL ADAPTOR ERROT. I am using port 1521 for listener.
Pls let me know the reason for that and how to resolve this.
Does this mean that u can't un-install the previos release?
I used database upgrade assistant to upgrade.
Many thanks.

When connecting locally does not work, then I think the error cannot come from sqlnet (listener or tnsnames) because sqlnet is not involved in local connections. One cause for your error could be that the instance is not started. Are you sure that all os-processes for oracle are running ? In Windows you have to look for the service "oracleserviceSID", in UNIX you should see the processes for pmon, smon etc. for that instance (as I know).
