I have a 50GB production database running on our production HP-UX server. I would like to create smaller version of the database on our development server. However, the development server only has about 12 GB of disk space. What's the best approach to create a smaller version of the production database on the my development server?

I would like to maintain exact copy of the database objects but with only a small subset of the data for testing purposes.

Hi,
Based on the version of your d/base, if you are on 9iR2, then look at the data subsetter in OEM (not 817's OEM). Also, take a look at Quest's Toad. It has some functionality to generate percentage of data per schema. If you are looking for just a data then you can use scripts which will generate sample random data.

Hope it helps,
