What's next ?[ 4 votes ]
1. Forms 11g 0 / 0%
2. APEX 4 / 100%
3. ADF 0 / 0%

Dears,

Am using oracle developer from about 5 years working on forms 10g and I build ERP system for construction company this system is working for 3 years after that the management decide to change to .NET cause the interface for oracle forms is not good and no graphical ideas.

I want to come back to oracle forms or any other technology but base on some needs for me.

1- I need to work on internet using any kind of browser "on my previous system am using Jinitiator to run forms and this need java files to setup on clients"

2- Good screen and graphic interface

3- Fast to build and easy to maintenance

note:
please choose from the poll above or add a technology on your topic.

thanks

From my point of view:
  • I don't see what difference would Forms 11g make when compared to Forms 10g
  • Apex (my vote) is easy to use, looks pretty
  • ADF is cool but difficult to learn, takes much more time than Apex, but looks great

I'm not going to vote because I work mostly in DB Admin, so I'm not competent to assess what development environment is in any way superior. I can however say that Forms and ADF need a significantly heavier (and more expensive) middle tier than APEX.

How to know if you can answer and are interested in a question if you don't read it?

Clearly, no-one thinks your question is of any interest. You have certainly not made any attempt to provide an answer.

Perhaps others are waiting to see if you have done any research. I tried, but you have not shown any interest in the approach I took.

Well, I can imagine a huge country with a billion citizens whose Oracle developers might disagree with you.

Apex Apex Apex ... but why!! let me give u my important notes to choose it:

I built ERP system with Forms 10g and it's very good " For me " but the client had his perspective. my result for why APEX is :

1- User Access : in forms u need to install initiator to run forms on client pc on the other hand APEX need just browser only to run and any user can work on it no need to installation problems for the users.

2- the GUI there is big different between form created by from and APEX and more clients like the preview on the first stage for is application

this is just two reasons to choose APEX

Do you mean jinitiator? Who uses that archaic method? That was desupported over 10 years ago. For forms you need only a browser and JRE. Heck, you don't even need a browser now with Java Web Start or Forms Stand Alone Application Launcher.

Dear joy_division

yes, it's jinitiator.. and I use it before for more than 8 years but still encounter the main problem u need "JRE" third party to run forms and if u want to build an application to interact with the public u can't enforce them to download files "the user need to use website", in the other hand still GUI of forms is weak compared with APEX
