With all Transaction/activity and applications being equal...
I am seeing more ARCH redo logs after I've completed a migration.
Old platform was SCO UNIX ORACLE 7.3.4.3
Online REDO Logs were 50 MB each.
4 GB of disk space was sufficent for arch redo logs.
New patform is HP-UX 11i 64 bit Oracle 8.1.7.3 (64 bit version).
New Online REDO Logs are 100M each.
I'm now needed around 8G for ARCH redo logs.
Nothing else changed. Why am I needing more space?
Any clues on where to look.
Please help.
Thanks a bunch. :-)

In the redo logs Oracle stores also reqursive SQL statements. They are issued againts the data dictionary, which changes from version to version. Since you have more tables, views and columns in 8i data dictionary, seems OK to me the redo log entries to be more than 7.3 ones.
If you open one redo log member with Log Miner you can easily see these reqursive SQL statements.
Hope that helps,
