Hi ,

My oracle RMAN backups are directly taken to TSM .

RMAN purge script running fine and deleting expired/obsolete files.But TSM team saying still old images are there . Now we are forced to use tdposync syncdb command to delete files.

Is there anyway to fix this issue , so that we can delete files from TSM without using tdposync utility.

Your helps are appreciated.

Regards,
Yaseen.

Yes, there is, you have to check your TDPO/TSM manual to know the configuration parameters to allow this.

I used TDPO in the earlier years of this century, so it might be very different now, it was version 2.1.
You should have a document named something like "Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle for UNIX Installation and User's Guide".
Ask your DBA or TSM administrator.

I can't post anything from this document as it is copyrighted IBM and it is specified "Use, duplication or disclosure restricted by GSA ADP Schedule Contract with IBM Corp.", so if you have not the document ask your IBM contact.

Thanks Gazzag.

Mike ,

did you meant the below steps to delete from RMAN ?

To remove an old backup, issue this command from the RMAN prompt:
run
{
allocate channel for delete type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/home/oracle/tdpo.opt)';
change backupset backupset number delete;
}

The problem is NOT in RMAN, it is in TDPO and TSM configuration.
You should read the document gazzag posted, it contains what you have to do.

It would be better YOU read the documentation than I read it for you and tell you what's inside.
Did you at least read the toc?
When I don't want to read some doco and want to rapidly get something I search for a keyword in it (hopefully you have a PDF easily searchable. What about searching for "delete" as this is what you want to do?
