For some reason, when we create a patching plan, selecting the GRID PSU for 12102 with the HAS and DB targets, it is failing because of the space needed in our /tmp directory, which we redirect to /opt/oracle/data/dma/LCM/tmp. It is requiring 19.8 gig of free space, which sounds like a very large GRID home.
Our current GRID home /opt/grid/product/121020/grid is only 7.8 gig.
[grid@ch3dr019405 product]$ du -sh *
7.8G 121020
If we are doing the "copy / cloning" of the existing home for the new GRID_HOME, wouldn't it start with the home that is 7.8 gig? Why is it needing 19gig. We did notice that our 121020 GRID_HOME does not have a .patch_storage, but we did a install from media, and we have not applied any patches yet.
I have tried to create the patch plan selecting the Q1 2016 GRID PSU two times and both failed on the "Run Cloning Checks" with the following error:
PREREQ_TYPE: TARGET_STATE
Insufficient space for Clone and patch: Required - 19805328KB
PREREQ_STATUS: FAILED
PREREQ_MESG: Insufficient space for cloning and patching Oracle Home: /opt/grid/product/121020/grid. Free space of 19805328 Kilo Bytes is required for /opt/oracle/data/dma/LCM/tmp/53CDB9182F7E026529CA8D5BC2EF21BF
PREREQ_REMEDY: MANUAL
PREREQ_REMEDY_DETAILS: Allocate the required free space for Cloning / Patching operation and try again.
Some prerequisite checks for cloning have failed
Cloning prerequisite checks completed with exit code 1

This is your third question in one day. What is going on? What job are you doing? What training have you had? Do you not have colleagues or a team leader whom you can ask? Putting questions on a public forum like this is no way to gain knowledge that requries either a lot of self study or a teacher.
In the mean time, I have applied the January PSU a few times and never needed any disk space like that. Just a few hundred MB is all it takes. But then, I just apply it: no messing about with a "patch plan". Again, what are you trying to do?
