Hi...

I am relatively new to Oracle...I installed oracle 9i on my windows XP home edition. WHen I try to connect to the database I get this error

Oracle Not Available
Shared Memory Realm does not exist...

Any Clues

hello,
go to Command prompt and Follow the below steps

C:> set oracle_sid= Your_sid_name/Database_name

c:>sqlplus sys/change_on_install

c:>startup

That will start the database.

Simple go to your Services and start the OracleService... . You will have the db server started automatically.

If you want that to happend at every machine reboot, run this from the MS-DOS prompt:

C:>oradim -edit -sid PUT_YOUR_DB_SID_HERE -startmode a
