i have installed Oracle 8i on Windows NT server. When i am trying to connect to the Oracle server from another client system i am getting the following error.

ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

pls help to me to solve this problem.

is the listener running in the server?
else
start it and try again ( hoping u have the rigt entries in the client's tnsnames.ora)

hello srinivas,
go to Command prompt and say LSNRCTL
and say Start this would start u r listener. In case of any problem create a New listener.
