Hi all, as the subject says, I'm trying to setup Oracle 9i Enterprise
Edition on Solaris 8 running on a Sun Fire V100. I've followed all of the
steps outlined in the setup doc (specificially those from this link)
http://www.dbspecialists.com/presentations/oracle920solaris.html. When I
execute /runInstaller in step 8 from the doc above I see:
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from
/tmp/OraInstall2003-02-07_03-11-59PM/jre/bin/java. Please Wait...
in the command prompt window. This is followed by this line repeated 20-30
times:
font specified in font.properties not found [[-urw-itc
zapfdingbats-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-sun-fontspecific]]
I've checked to make sure all of the font packages listed in Oracle's setup
docs are installed on my system.
The Oracle splash screen then comes up. The CPU And disk both spike a
little but then go to 0. The splash screen sits there and never goes away.
If I move another window (console, file manager, etc) over the splash screen
it never repaints. I never see any buttons and the only way I can stop is
to kill the process.
I don't know what's wrong. Can anyone shed any light on this situation? Is
there other information that would be helpful to know to figure this out? I
don't know what other info to give, I'm a new to this.
Another thing, I'm using XVision. Not sure if that matters.
Greg
