Hi,
I'm a student working on a project for the university.
And we have 2 options to build a website that contains a lot of data (text).
1. What do you think of the combination of Oracle on a Linux platform??
2. What do you think of the combination of Oracle on a Windows 2000 platform??
Thanks for your advice if you post one.

Hi,
I would prefer Unix Systems (Linux) because I think they're better scaleable and work better. But this is my personal opinion. If there's a Windows-Freak, he will prefer Win2000. On Windows you need to work with the services to start and stop Oracle. Only stopping Oracle via script will not have the full reboot character. On Linux you've to stop and start via scripting and have not take care of any "running service".
The question is "Whos has to administer this DB and what are his/hers Knowledge ?"
ciao
Uwe
