Hi
Is it possible to restore all oracle software from backup without re-install.?
If i remove oracle software from unix HP-UX 11i, let say i remove /oracle/product/* ,I would like to restore /oracle/product from my tape backup .
It will work or not?
any idea or thought would be apprecitaed

sounds like you're just moving the oracle software as opposed to a database.
It should work fine, though its worth re-running the root.sh script just for sake of completeness, and if you have further problems, try relinking everything before you give up all hope.
And be aware that if you make a call to oracle support and tell them what you did, they may well refuse to support you... but they have their standards ;-)
