Is anyone aware of free data dictionary tools that work with Oracle and also with flat files.

can you throw some light on this?
what do u mean by 'data dictionary tools'?
to load the flat files, u can use sql*loader

Thank you for the response.

As of right now I would like something that can read off of flat files. We do not have Oracle yet but we will eventually. I just want the tool to be able to read from flat files right now, but be compatible with Oracle for when we do have it.

sql*loader is tool that comes alongwith oracle.
or
u can write a proceudure in pl/sql using UTL_FILE

Mahesh,

Thank you very much for the response. The problem I will face is that we do not have Oracle yet and SQL*Loader looks like it comes with Oracle. Also, I was looking for something intelligent(not sure if SQL*Loader is) to flag duplicate data elements etc. Can you tell I am new to this stuff? :-)

Please advise.
