please tell me how to set these parameter for connecting to database through telnet

set var ORACLE_HOME ORACLE_SID PATH
i have linux8.2

depending on Ur shell ...linux should be bash...

i think that the correct syntax is
set VAR=VALUE
or
export VAR=VALUE

examples
export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/7343
export ORACLE_SID=PRODDB
export PATH=$PATH:/u01/app/oracle/product/7343/bin

You have bash shell unless changed to something else:

edit your user .bashrc file to include

ORACLE_HOME=/.../../
ORACLE_SID=

PATH=$PATH:/.../../..

export ORACLE_HOME ORACLE_SID PATH

You also need to setup LD_LIBRARY_PATH (usually - ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib) , NLS_LANG and TNS_ADMIN (if using location for tnsnames.ora, listener.oar files other than ${ORACLE_HOME}/network/admin
