I just installed Oracle 8.1.7.4 onto a Windows 2000 server. The install was initially done via terminal server. I proceeded to create a service, password file, etc. svrmgrl (and sqlplus) generated the following error:ORA-12560 TNS:Protocal Adapter error. To make a long story short, I ended up uninstalling oracle (from the console) and reinstalling it. Now before you answer, I can run the same command from the console with no problem. (set ORACLE_SID=LIMSD2 , svrmgrl). It only fails from terminal server client. I also have no problems when using VNC to connect. I have since installed Oracle 9.2.0.1 via terminal services and have had no problem, either remotely or on the console.
Can anyone offer any other usggestions. I uninstalled oracle 8i using the Oracle setup tool, and then removed the oracle directory and also the registry key.
PS. When I mention terminal services, I am making use of the two user license with Windows 2000. With this setup, I also do not (can not) use "change user /install)".
Thanks
Chris
