Hi,

I have installed Oracle9i on Mac OS X. When I try to
connect using SQL*Plus to some remote DB it sayas
Could not resolve service name, but when I try the TNS
Ping it resolves the service name OK and it pings ok.
Why is this? tnsping ok, but sqlplus cannot resolve
the service name?

Thanx!

tnsping just check if the entry of the tns is valid...

U should verify that's the remote listener is up ... that u 're using the right port with the right protocol.

Connect to remote server and connect to the database using sqlplus user/db@db
if it works copy the entry of the tns to ur own server
