Hai, I have created a local database on windows 2000 , when i access the machine with my different login the oracle database is not getting started automatically, it gives me an error 0ra-12541, can any one help me out. I do have administrator rights for both the logins.

from controlpanel/users&passwords,
create a new group ( something like a dba group in UNIX) and allow both the users ( the one who created the oracle database, and one who is accessing) to share ORACLE RESOURCES and allow necessary administrative rights.

Santosh: Ur user must be in ORA_DB group.

Could be couple of reasons. Not to repeat whatever was said already: read These fixes and post if you still having problems.
