Hi,
I am having trouble in installing Oracle 8 Personal onto a WIN2000 machine. Very early in the
installation
process, when the dependencies for SQL*Net Client are
being analyzed I recieve the following error message ..

stopsrvc,vrf[[78]]: Type mismatch in argument '0'
when calling 'contains'
stopsrvc.vrf[[78]]: 'STRING' expected when 'LIST'
found

At this point the installation terminates.

only oracle versions 8.1.6.x and above are certified against windows 2000.
Generally , all products (EE,SE,PE) was released as
windows NT / 2000.
anyhow try this
if there was an instance of oracle running before and deleted,
there is good possibility that CLEAN UP of previous installations were not goood.
so do a CLEAN DELETE of all oracle products / databases and try again.
