Dear All,
I have one doubt on Expdp & RMAN.
Do EXPDP utilities does backup at block level as what RMAN is doing?
Which one is faster, expdp or RMAN?
Regards,
Ishika

I agree, Michel. I was merely pointing out to the OP that he is asking nothing that he can't find out for himself. But the subsequent import/restore (assuming the OP does this) may well be a relevant exercise; it will demonstrate the difference between the two procedures.

Michel Cadot wrote on Wed, 29 May 2013 13:50The question itself is irrelevant.
When 2 things do different works, it is irrelevant to compare the times they make to do their work.
Do you compare the time to write a query and the time to go to buy bread?
Regards
Michel
Of course not. But depending on my specific requirement, I might well compare the differences between a physical and a logical backup.

Maybe an understanding of the differences between the tools in question - the OP currently doesn't have that. That and by reading the documentation. Then asking questions from people who know better than me. That's how we learn, isn't it?

Test it.

Dear Michel, Mahesh Rajendran,
Thanks for your reply...
I know that EXPDP is logical. I want to know whether both RMAN & EXPDP did block level backup.
For my second question, i got answer from Mahesh. Thanks
Regards,
Ishika

Generally, RMAN backups only used blocks, EXPDP also does the same thing, with RMAN corrupted blocks can be detected, where as EXPDP it's not possible.,

This is completely wrong.
I advise you to read the first chapter of each of these tools in the documentation.

Michel
