Hi,
Sorry for troubling you guys again. I have installed Oracle 9i and created the 9i database using DB Assist in 9i.
The files are created in this path:
E:\oracle\oradata\devl\ (in this devl folder all the database files are there).
I even copyied my previous version (8.1.7) of transaction datafiles into this folder.
Now I am using the DB Upgrade option after chosing the SID and oracle home as e:\oracle\ora92 when I press next it says
There are no release "9.2.0" database components in dtabase "devl" in the "e:\oracle\ora92" Oracle home that can be upgraded to Oracle Release "9.2". Select another db to upgrade.
I have only one db devl. What went wrong can anyone assist in this please? The db devl is already opened.

Dear Mr.Michel,
So you say that I should copy the files in e:\oracle\ora92\oradata directory. In fact when I created the db using db assist it created in e:\oracle\oradata\devl.
If I want to move to e:\oracle\ora92\oradata folder what need to do kindly help.
I know you should change the path in init parameter file and anyother place the path to be changed.

Hi,
So you say I should install the 8i software also in this 9i and up the 8i DB first and then to 9i grade. Is it correct?
If yes then I should delete the 9i db which I have created and then bring up the 8i from the backup and then upgrade to 9i using upgrade assist.

Hi BlackSwan,
As you suggested I did the installation of 8i uploaded the DB and the installed the 9i in the same server and choose the DB Upgrade option to convert to 9i. It was going smooth but suddenly I got the following message
90 MB of free disk space is not available at "E:\ORACLE\oradata\DEVL" to create the "ODMA_RBS" tablespace for rollback undo mode during upgrade. Provide the required free space on the disk.
I have 70GB of free space in my E: drive. My old RBS has got 1GB of free space.
