HI,

There are two databases Db1 in vers. 8 and DB2 in ver 9i. both are on different machines.
I want to retrieve or connect to DB2 from DB1 database.
Is it possible? if Yes, how?

create a dblink.
any book or documentation on oracle would give the basic steps in creating database links(dblink)

create a public or private database link

create database link name_of_the_database
connect to scott identified by tiger
using net_service_name_from_the_tnsnames.ora;
