At the time of database creation can i store the datafiles in a different machine (simply mapping a drive). If store them then what will be the effect on performance of database transaction.

it is recomended to the datafiles, in different disk, over the same machine.

Usually Disk IO is the main bottleneck in an Oracle DB. You need to ensure that by mapping a drive you are not introducing a big bottleneck. chances are that you are. Network speed and latency as well as the different vendors solutions could make a BIG difference.
