I tried to install Oracle 8.1.6 (Actually Oracle 8i Enterprise Server) on a Windows 2000 Server. Right after the install, I was able to connect to the database through SQL. But upon rebooting, I got the message 'Database not available, shared memory realm does not exist.' Any clues as to how to fix this?

you can goto the controlpanel/AdministritveServices/Services and make sure the oracle<sid> service and listner service are turned on.
